    Manitou Six Diva fork issue

My wifes 2004 Rockhopper has a Manitou Six Diva fork that chatters real bad during compression. So much so, that the front wheel vibrates. It sticks bad enough that if you compress it while not moving the fork will not return at times. I downloaded the service pdf from Manitou and disassembled, cleaned, regreased, and reassembled the fork. It was better until the first ride but, now the problem is back. She is a totally novice rider and the bike only sees mild trail use. I e-mailed Manitou but have not heard back as of yet. Any insight to what I can do or, do I just scrap the fork and buy something else?

Have you tried a new seal kit? It sounds like she hasn't properly broken it in yet, or you got a set of REALLY tight seals. Manitou has a specific grease to use on its stanchions, try some of that. It's kindof hard to diagnose problems over the internet... Bring it into the shop where you got it from and see what they say. They should fix it free of charge...
