Manitou shock/fork pump & SPV pump, what's the difference?

In the 2004 (and many other years') Manitou manual, the Manitou shock pump is described as part number 85-4069. In the same manual, a dedicated SPV pump is cited as part number 85-4161.

You can see what I mean with any of these manuals:

What is the difference? Why a spcial SPV pump? They both use schrader valves... One has a higher pressure calibration and the other lower?

    Please advise. Thanks.

the SPV pump has a more precise gauge (up to 185psi IIRC). Works just the same as long as you don't need to read higher pressures

I have an SPV pump that I've replaced the gauge on in order to pump up my rear shock which is normally out of the pressure range of the SPV gauge.
