Looking to replace rear shock with coil... Suggestions?

As the title states, I currently have a Sette Flite with a Rock Shox Monarch 3.1 (6"/152.4mm) rear shock that came stock. I'm a heavier rider (205 lbs) looking to do some light downhill this summer. With my weight, even just doing 3-4 foot drops it easily bottoms out and I'm concerned that it just isn't going to hold up to any greater punishment.

As such I would like to upgrade to a coil, but also make sure that I don't **** up the frame geometry or get something that's to soft/hard for me. Suggestions? As I'm sure most of you would like a price, I was thinking about 550 tops with the shock and coil. Thanks guys!

You need to figure out what the existing eye to eye / stroke of the current shock.

Do what Keen says, measure shock with ruler, then find out stroke. Then shop for another shock. FYI, nowadays air spring shocks are good. I think you would be happy with a DHX air shock or Monarch plus. Both are easy to bleed and service.

The specs say 6"/152.4mm... Are neither one of these measurements the eye to eye measurements/stroke? Sorry for my ignorance. I guess I could measure manually, but I was trying to go just by the spec sheet for the bike.

    *edit*
This is the spec sheet from pink bike. Is their a way to filter popular parts sites (jenson/pricepoint/whatever else you guys have in mind) in order to find something that will fit properly?

Isn't 6" the rear travel? Anyways as already mentioned measure the eye to eye w/ a ruler.

As an update which might help those looking to give feedback: eye to eye it is 7.5 inches.
