ID Marzocchi Forks - Help needed! Air and coil?
Hi, i'm new to mountain biking and would like to get into downhill etc. Im riding a cheap bike at the min to work but I have got a bike frame which I have had for years, that I want to finally build.
Its a hard tail Orange Sub Zero BH 16"
Any way, I don't have a clue when it comes to parts/suspension etc as I mainly used a BMX.
I Have purchased some forks off ebay but they have no stickers, just wondering if anybody could help me ID them as I think the seal has gone.
They are def Marzocchi:

ok then, here is a description. they are black with chrome bits, no v-brake mounts. they have valves on each leg. look like some kind of Dirt Jumper or Dirt Jam

I think that it is Marzocchi Dirt Jumper 3 and model year probably somewhere around -04. Dust caps have been changed. I once had the same fork.
Edit: Check this: Tenneco Marzocchi Suspension - 2004 forks - DIRT JUMPER III

hi, thanks for replying. thats what i was thinking, however after looking inside i found yellow springs/coils. but it has the valves to pump air in aswell so im confused,do you think these are these air forks or coil forks? cheers

It is coil spring with air preload/assist. So it is sort of both (coil and air) springs combined.

ok great, next question, the right leg is leaking oil from the seal. does this mean new seals are needed?
if so, would you recommend repairing the forks or just selling them and getting more forks? (i don't really have the money to buy new though)....basically are they worth repairing??
cheers

It is highly likely.

Well if stanchion tubes are not damaged and leaking is the only problem then it could be quite easy and cheap to fix with new seals and basic maintenance. Although I would have to say that it is not very sophisticated fork but still very reliable, easy to service and works best for dirt dumping use. Not the best for downhill use. You might want to repair that fork for now and save money and buy a better fork or even whole bike for downhill use in the future.

As far as I remember, yes (32 mm seals).

hi, thanks tune. i can get seals for £10 of ebay so i might try that first. other than cosmetic, the rest of the forks look ok.
the main use to start with will be riding to work and back through the woods. and some weekend riding in the summer to get back into it. thanks for your help.
