Got an used mantiou revox today. (Year is 2007 I think)
Pumped it up to 130psi, and tried on my bike.
when I just like sit on the bike and stand up rapidly, the shock feels very "dead".
Feels like there's very big friction, causing the shock quite resistant to move.
Is that because of the pedal platform? I tried every position it offers, still feel the same. The platform can't be turned off? Is this kind of feel normal?
I think I do have the right spring. Sag is about 28%.
I don't think it's caused by some stiff spring. Because it feels like sticktion, lots of friction.
BTW, I do think that revox has platform. there is a platform adjustment, 4 positions on the shock.

That is a bottom-out volume adjuster, it makes the shock more progressive. There is no platform. You can also adjust the air pressure in the canister, but that doesn't sound like the problem.
Your shock sounds like it needs work, maybe a bent shaft or just extremely worn and dirty inside.
fox, I believe those 4 positions you refer to are actually the no-tools piggyback volume control. This is an Intrinsic damper shock that doesn't have SPV from all I've seen of the Revox. Rear shocks don't usually require the breakin process that many forks do, but do you have any rides on this shock? Many times I've experienced a "dull" or seemingly heavily damped compression action that was apparently due to a small amount assembly grease. This disappeared in an hour or two. If you haven't, put a couple of rides on it. If nothing changes, call Manitou tech and see what the deal is. The Revox is a good long travel shock for big hit AM bikes or DH/FR rigs. What bike do you have it on? Also, that air pressure you have in the piggyback is primarily for bottomout control, but it can slightly affect small bump compliance as it gets higher. I have an Evolver ISX-6 shock which is an air shock a bit similar to the coil Revox in function. I run 60 psi in that piggyback. Mine needs little bottomout control due to the excellent function of the damper tuning. I wasn't fond of the Intrinsic damper in their forks...too service technical IMO...but it's perfect for the more closed confines of the rear shock.
One consistent thing with Manitou is lack of documentation and large number of models.
The Manitou website may or may not indicate but the Revox shock was made available in Intrinsic (shim based) or SPV dampening.
I picked up a Revox that was never used but was pulled off of a bike. No markings on the shock body or stickers indicated anything but Intrinsic dampening. The shock seemed quite dead just like the OP mentioned.
I took it to a local shop that does Manitou work. The shock was put on a press (dyno ???) allowing the guy was able to cycle the shock through its travel range. He immediately told me it had the SPV dampening. He further confirmed this when he took the shock apart. I had him change out the dampening to shim based and can report the shock does feel much better now. You may want to verify 100% which model you have.
I run mine on a DW link bike that obtains 7 inches of travel with the 8.75 x 2.75 Revox. I run around 30 percent sag, and will vary the bottom out setting depending on what I ride. The HS / LS compression has the range to be set very plush to almost a lockout. The rebound has a wide range but not as wide as some may like. The rebound can be set from too slow to fast. The rebound on the Revox when set on the fast side is not quite as wide open as other shocks, such as a DHX-5, when the rebound is wide open.
IMO and based on my ride setup preferences the Revox provides a better controlled ride than the DHX-5 Coil.
But now I get even more confused...
Anyway, took it for a ride. Feels OK on the trail.
I think the rebound is a bit slow compared to DHX 5.0 even when I set it to the fastest.
Maybe the shock needs some service, which, unfortunately, I don't have here.
