I am looking for a fairly cheap fork upgrade for my sons 2005 Trek 3700. He only weighs 90 dressed. The stock fork is a RST 191 which is extremely stiff for him. He doesn't race or down hill, but some of the trails we ride on are covered in roots and logs. He needs something a bit softer. I can't justify spending a ton on the fork just yet since he is just now getting into mountain biking. We have $60 into the bike as it is right now.
I was told the Rock Shox XC 28 TK Coil Fork is a decent fork and is on sale right now for $80. I am pretty sure I will have to put in a softer spring, but I haven't found it so far.
Any help would be great.
