Fox Forx Vanilla 125RL model year?

    Hey everyone,

I just got my hands on a used Vanilla 125RL fork and I was wondering if there was any way of knowing which model year it was? Any distinguishing features from the outside?

I plan on changing the oil & seals before riding this thing (or at the very least, go and check the condition of things in there first), and I was wondering which manual I should follow (even though they really similar).

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know the diffence between '02 and '03 models but you can separate '04 and pre-'04 models by looking at the dropouts:

Left one is the newer '04 model.

Great info, thanks. The dropouts from the 04 look a bit beefier... I don't have the fork with me, but from what I remember it looks more like the one on the right. So '02 or '03 it is, then...

    Thanks!

It's hard to tell but the was a slight design change from 02 to 03. 2002 had more compression damping and they drilled the top cap some more for more flow on the 2003 models. If you want to post a picture and someone will recognize the stickers (if they are correct for that model).

Okeo, the 125's I bought in June 2002 have the same decals as the picture you posted.

In early 2003 endo I broke off one of the axle dropouts and the replacement lowers had a different decal than in your picture.

Thanks, that's very useful. I had a feeling that it was a 2002. I appreciate the reply!

The lowers are stamped with the date of manufacture

Hadn't noticed that... Cool stuff. Can I assume that the fork is an 02 model if it was manufactured in 02? Were there 02s manufactured in 03?

    Thanks for the tip!
