Fox F80RLT - broken coil spring

    Hello,

my Fox F80RLT has a broken coil spring. Yes, I know this is an air fork, but it has a coil spring for plushness.

Has anybody experienced something like this before, maybe with the fork being out of warranty?
How did Fox react? Did they pay goodwill?
Or how much did they charge?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

The spring isn't for "plushness" it's your negative spring and the entire air-shaft assembly is only about $25-35 bucks.

Thank for your information. Ok, that's what my dealer told me.Never dissassembled the Fox before.
I could hear the noise when pushing the fork down.

Anybody having similar problems with a negative broken spring?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Well, since the negative spring is there to counter the high initial spring rate of the main air spring so the fork isn't harsh....I'd say the bike shops description really isn't far off base.

There's some good discussion about negative springs in this thread

Air only vs. air + negative chamber shocks

It's not a very common problem and as C24C said, the parts aren't very expensive.
