    Fox 32 F-Series RL rattle

I went riding today and when my front shock was compressed quickly it would make a noise almost like something was grinding inside. Other than that the shock seems to be working normally. If it's not compressed fully, it doesn't make a sound and you can't tell anything is wrong. When I got home I was cleaning it up a little and turned the bike upside down. It sounds like there is a spring that is sliding around inside of it. Anyone have any idea what may have happened? It's a 2010, but really doesn't have that many miles on it and it hasn't been ridden hard. Does it need to be rebuilt? Is the shock toast? Anyone know a rough idea of cost?
Thanks for the help, I can fix most of the stuff on the bike, but have never messed with shocks before.

This sounds like what I had not long ago. The 'top out spring' had broken inside my fork. I strongly recommend you tear that for down (or have someone do it) and check it over. The broken spring was tearing up other parts inside the fork and the shavings were gumming up all kinds of moving parts.

Was that something that was fairly cheap and easy to fix?
