eBay rockshox revelation 426 leaking oil

    I purchased a used Rockshox revelation 426 u turn 100-130mm.

It came covered in oil and seems to be from the motion control knob. The ad says its a 2011 but when I google that year it shows one with different decals. Did I get screwed? I paid $147 after shipping. Ill ad some pics of the leakage later.

I believe there's a small o-ring on the MoCo knob. It's most likely coming from there. If it's never been rebuilt, probably time for a thorough rebuild.

Also, that is absolutely not a 2011 fork, more like a 2008! So as far as that goes, yeah, you got screwed.

Not a bad deal but like Kiwi said, definitely not a 2011. 2009 or older.

The older MoCo units leaked from the FG knob. I messed around w/ the o-rings but in the end a new $50 MoCo unit did the fix. You can dispute the sale for a full or partial refund through ebay.

That looks like my 2007 Revelation, which was a 130-100.

By 2011 Revelations had moved up to 140 or 150 travel.

I further inspected it this morning before work and I think the motion control side was covered in oil because that's the side it was laying on in shipping. It might be the opposite side around the cap. My first and prob last time buying used parts. Gonna at least try for a partial refund.

My Revelation 426 is in this photo, fork was bought in Dec 2006.

Looks like you got scammed, but buying online can work out... you have to do your research first. Just Googling for 2011 Revelation images would have shown that the fork was not from 2011.

At the very newest that is a mid-2008 model fork, from 2009 they changed the stickers and started using Pike Lowers.

You need to get it apart and find the source of the leak. The top O-rings on the damper/adjuster could be prone to leaking, if it's just that than $150isn't a bad deal.

If it's leaking because the the seals are shot (or the lowers have run dry and you've got stanchion wear under the wipers), then it's time to excersize your buyer's rights.

I had a coil set of 426s, they're very reliable forks, but no way is it a 2011!

The seller offered to order whatever part I need from SRAM to fix it or a full refund. He never addressed the age issue and says he never had a leaking issue. Apart from the leak it has one small scratch and that's it!

I think he meant to show the overall shape of the fork lowers, and was pointing out that the fork he linked to was not a u-turn like the OP's, but otherwise was the same.

I have an '09 426. Mine started leaking from the same place. I took it to a shop, only because RS doesn't deal direct. RS gave me a new upgraded assembly for that side. So, all I had to do was pay for the labor.

Here's my lil experiment to make sure. I'm gonna check on it every so often. You can also see the Dart 3 "le femme" on my gf's myka that its gonna replace IF I don't just get a full refund.

I'd say if it leaked in the shipping box the o-rings / seals are toast. My older MoCo only leaked (weeped) during actual rides not a drop inverted. Did you happen to check to make sure the damper has enough oil ? I still have 2 new MoCo dampers in my spare parts bin if you are interested - one is a Black Box Ti MoCo the other is a standard Tooled MoCo unit.

The only part showing any moisture at all is the around the gold knob that says GATE. Seems like oil is bubbling out under it.

I forgot to mention, that was only about a year and a half ago.
