Dumb question 1 1/8 fork adapter for tapered frames?

Reason I ask is my Intense is small and I know I'd be better off in a Med frame. But the frame Im looking at is a tapered head. So do they make adapters, if so will it effect handling?

You'll need to replace at least the lower stack of your headset, maybe not all of it depending on what you have and shat you get. Use this Cane Creek fit finder.

My frame comes with a 1.5" headset bottom cup (cane creek 40 series) and the fork is straight 1-1/8".

The question is do I absolutely have to buy another bottom cup to fit the for or I can just use a spacer like this one ?

Would the second option be a big no no or it will work just fine?

Just get a "conversion" crown race from Cane Creek. Makes a straight steerer fork a direct fit.

One thing I noticed is that fork looks funny mounted. Small crown next to large head tube bottom. This would not bother me, but would drive some people crazy. Because we're weird bike people.

I have never noticed that while riding.
