    diamondback recoil

hi guys im new to mountain bikes. recently i started commuting to work on my mtb because it kept me off the street with all the traffic, unlike my roadbike.

i recently acquired a diamonback recoil (not comp) in a trade. it is all stock. i was wondering if i could get some pointers on how to set my suspension. my front seems fine where it is at the moment, but my rear basically rides topped out. and so whenever i end up compressing it, it recoils up with a thud when it tops out again. i was wondering if this was normal, or if i should set it to some level of sag, and if so, how much sag should i go for?

btw, im 5'6" 170lbs, and ride a medium size.

    thanks for any help.

Anything, that damn coilover tuff shock sucked it was really noisy POS. I replaced it with Manitou I got off ebay. Rides better and I don't have to keep thinking what the hell is that noise and where the hell is it coming from...

Replaced manitou with a RockShox Monarch 4.2 I got off ebay, Manitou was to short and caused some play in the rear fork.
