convertin DH coil Lyrik to Uturn. how to remove the rubber bumpstop?

Its solid and circa 1/4 of the way into the fork (from the bottom). How can I remove this? Otherwise the uturn shaft can't have a clear path through to the bottom bolt/hole.

What could I use (homemade) to poke up from the bottom bolt hole??

Sorry for the grammar, typing whilst trying to free it!

You should be slapped for even thinking about doing that!

I converted my fork the other way : from u-turn to 170mm fixed.

I think if you take off the bottom of the fork, you can remove it.
That means you will have to refill the oil on the right side.

BTW, if you do so, would you consider selling me your 170mm fixed spring (if it's a red one) ?
Or I could trade you my standard u-turn spring ?

Yes, thinking about it the stanchions are 'in the way'. Bugger. Everytime I've dropped the lowers I've made a hash of it

I like the DH170's. I just think my frame (2011 Turner 5spot) which is rated to 160 would actually suit 150travel alot better. I don't want to get rid of the forks though hence versatility of the Uturn spring conversion

You can convert a fixed 170 DH coil to a 115-160 U-turn? I didn't think this was possible due to the difference in the lowers.

Anyone have a list of parts needed, etc?

I had a bit of a eurika moment. The DH170 has only the bottom shaftassembly so you carry out exactly the same proceedure if you were to remove/change a uturn spring.

All you need partwise is a top cap assembly (UKú25) from your distributor and a uturn spring.

I'll post a pic up of the old bottom shaft/rubber stop (ontop of it) that the DH spring sat ontop.

Ok, so I got mine converted over tonight, but I can't get the u-turn spring to stop spinning when I try to tighten and torque the bottom foot nut.

I've got it pretty snug by hand, but when I try to torque it to 65 in/lbs, the whole assembly just spins. I can hold the travel adjust knob, but then when I try to tighten it, the travel just lowers. When the travel stops at 115mm, it just starts spinning again.

I can't remember having this problem with my older U-turn. Any help or thoughts?
