2013 Trek 8.3 DS Fork Question (lockout)

I just bought a 2013 Trek 8.3 DS for commuting/conditioning purposes. I'm used to locking out the front fork on the fly like my Fuel. Does anyone know if the SR Suntour NEX MLO shock that comes with this bike can be locked out on the fly? It seems I have to completely unload the shock (no weight on the bike) in order to lock out the fork. Is this the normal behavior or is there something up with this fork?

No, you can't lock them out on the fly. You have to take weight off the bike and lock it out. I am not an expert, but I think that the only suspension that does that is remote lockout. You would also trigger it up by the shifters.

Thanks for the response. Confirmed with a employee at Suntour, weight must be completely off the fork. It's a true mechanical lockout.
