Just changed the oil in my 55 EVO Ti V2 last night. Dampener side oil looked great (I haven't had the fork very long). On the spring side the oil looked like jelly. I was thick and came out in globs. The sleeve that isolates the spring from the inside of the stanchion tube was extremely brittle and flaked apart as I removed the spring from the fork. I cleaned every thing out with Maxima fork cleaner and put it back together with out the sleeve (there was no way to salvage it. It appeared as though the oil had reacted to the material on the spring sleeve thingy.
Now you can hear the spring as it rides against the inside of the stanchion tube. Do I need to address this or will it be fine? Anyone else see this in their fork?
