08 Reba SL 29 Damper Insert Problem

Have a couple of older Reba 29 forks and went to swap the compression dampers between forks (one has the remote lock out) and when I inserted them into the forks one went in fine and one is stopping around 1" from being full inserted. Ending up around 1" from the threads catching in the fork crown - feels like something is blocking the damper from dropping in all the way.

Have swapped dampers before and never had an issue - was working fine before pulling the damper. Fork is extended properly as if fully inflated showing 4+ inches of lower leg (running both at 100mm).

Could something in rebound damper be loose and blocking insertion of the compression damper?

Any ideas for something to try??

    Thanks!

    Nevermind!!

Brain cloud on my part - must've had the damper locked when I pulled the cap off and pulled it out of the other fork. Couldn't see that it was locked out once the cap was off and when trying to insert it was trying to lock out - just like it's supposed to!. Opened the compression damper and it dropped right in!
