XTR SL-M980 shifters w/o horizontal adjust

I have 2012 XTR SL-M980 shifters with standard handlebar clamp with the horizontal adjustment as pictured on shimano's website.

I went riding with some friends and noticed their XTR SL-M980 with standard handlebar clamp do not have the horizontal adjustment. It's fixed. No ability to slide shifter left or right without loosening the clamp bolt.

I have not seen a none adjustable version of the XTR SL-M980 shifters. Are these for OEM and not retail?
