    XTR M970 Bottom Bracket Removal

I am trying to remove the bottom bracket from my bike (already have the crankarms off) to cure some creaking happening down there but do not have either tools (bbt-9 or bbt-19) park tool makes to do the job. Considering these are probably not in stock at the local bike shops around here (SLC), I am trying to figure out a different way of removing it. Any suggestions/experiences with this?

Buy the right tool or they will be mangled. There is no other proper way to remove and re-install the BB bearings. Skip the water pump pliers. There is quite likely a shop with the tools in stock, or there's these guys.

Well, I wasn't going to try to use pliers or anything like that but I guess that my question is, will a strap wrench work? They are much easier to find and in that case I wouldn't have to wait for shipping.

Well, the answer is no, a strap wrench will not work. Heading to the shop tomorrow. Thanks for your input Rocky Uphill.
