XT Double Crankset - Convert to Single?

Hey guys,
I'm building up a new ride this week, I bought a drivetrain from one of the guys at the shop and its XT 2x10...

Too many gears!

So, has anyone taken these cranks and ran a single ring with something like an MRP 1x, does it move far enough one way to clear the cage of the chain guide? Does the chainline look better on one position over the other? I'd love to run a 32 or 34t on the outer position... maybe even space in inwards a little bit to straighten the chainline?

How about a new spider? Thanks guys.

EDIT: Widget seems like a cool option... Does this work well on this crank?

I recieved an email reply from Paul at Widget and he confirmed that their 104/64bcd Widget for doubles works great with this crankset.

I've converted my 2x FSA Afterburner crank to a single speed. The MRP Lopes Guide did not fit until I modified/moved the small ring to the front position where the big ring was. The chain line is still far from perfect but at least the guide fits. The 2x cranks just aren't designed for 1x conversion because neither ring is perfectly centered.
