    SM-BB91 crank compatibility

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to change the crank on my vertex29 from rocky mountain. The BB is the BB91 press fit. I assume that 83 mm is going to be to short so I think I should go for a 100 mm with some spacers. I'm I correct ? I've never change a crank before so I just want to be sure before spending the money...

    Cheers

Any standard external BB crank works fine (but not a GXP Truvativ/SRAM), so any Race Face Deus, Turbine or Next or Shimano XTR, XT, SLX or Deore XC crank will work.

With the added caveat that the Vertex29 BB shell is very close to some granny rings, you may need to grind or file the inner tabs on some granny rings.

Standard size, 68/73. Not freeride/DH size

And here's the reason you use standard width cranks, SM-BB90A and SM-BB91 are the same outside width
