    Shimano - Raceface Compatability

    Hi,

this may be an obvious question but, is there any reason why shimano chain rings wouldn't fit on a raceface crank? assuming both are 4bolt 104 pcd. I ask this as i am not getting very good mileage out of raceface chain rings.

    Thanks

    Andrew

Many of the new Shimano rings have a rounded inner bolt circle on the middle rings where RF rings have a radiused ring so it fits against a machined edge on the RF cranks, so you'd have to make some mod's to the RF cranks to get the Shimano rings to fit (and you may need spacers on the granny ring depending on which Shimano version you're using).

Shimano uses standard BCD but they have a different idea of offset from the mounting surface on the crank arms for the centre of the rings.
