Shimano 11spd road cassette and Mavic Crossmax SLR 29 compatibility question...

Is it possible to use the XX1 11spd hub body to mount a Shimano 11spd road cassette on the Crossmax SLR 29 wheel? Or is there some other way to accomplish this or is it just not possible? I'm building a Niner RLT9 gravel grinder and want to use the Mavic wheels for the build since I already have them.

XD driver body is totally different, so I'd say no. But you'd think Mavic will offer a Shimano 11-spd freehub body.

XD body will only accept SRAM XD cassettes. 11 speed 10-42 or 7 speed 10-24 (with 11 speed spacing) are your only options.

I know on the road most Mavic freehub bodies required an additional spacer to use 10 speed cassettes long before 11 speed was introduced, meaning they were future proof 11 speed comaptible. Perhaps it's the same with the standard SRAM/Shimano Crossmax freehub body in that they don't advertise it but they're 11 speed compatible. Worth checking.

Well, I confirmed a 105 10 spd cassette will fit on it. But does not look like there is space to fit an 11spd road cassette. I could get the 11spd XD body and an 11spd X01 or XX1 cassette, but will have to start swapping things out. Better off just selling this wheelset to put towards another.

I'm liking the Reynolds Stratus Pro Disc wheels or maybe go economical with the Stan's Iron Crosses.

    I think it should fit.
What is rhe lenght needed ?

Mavic has been one of the first manufacturer to release an xx1 body. If they need a new one for xtr 11v, it will be out fast.

The Shimano MTB 11-sp cassettes fit on the current MTB hubs, but Shimano 11-sp road cassettes need a wider FH body.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common
