New XTR levers (m-980) with old calipers (m-965) will it work?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the new XTR XC levers with old XTR calipers? I have a few m-965 calipers sitting around and it would be nice to use those with the new levers to save a few bucks. I know the description for the new brakes says there is a new one way bleed process, but the calipers do not look all that different other than the ceramic pistons, the location of the bleed port, and possibly the fluid ports in the caliper.

Looking at the shimano website under tech docs, the old calipers and new calipers use different style brake hoses, but if you used the hose from the newer caliper, and the connectors for the old style lever fits the new hose, you should be good to go

You can use the current XT, XTR or SLX levers with your 965 calipers I believe.
