New question here. Shimano component question... Does it matter?

If I've been thinking, if I want to get the Deore LX, do I need to change the all the items to Shimano Deore LX?

An example can be shifters perhaps? I mean as long as it can sustain 9 speed is okay or do I have to follow all the requirement needed by the booklet?

Yeah.. you can mix and match as you like... you just need to match the number of gears between your cassette and right shifter.. the rest is mix-and-match

[SIZE=3]Deore LX can last a lifetime. Mine (R only w/ shifter) are rocking hard after a years worth of abuse in Florida. Get 'yer pull!!! Maintain the bolt seatings, clean 'em and you'll be set. Racing is a different matter, and a whole different playing field. The tighter springs of the XT/XTR are better suited to lighting fast trail/track dynamics and need less attention, but I really would race my bike as is in 4X/Mountain Cross. And place...and more!!!
