    Crank weights

    hello, trying to find a weight comparisonm between the new 2x xt cranks and slx cranks...

    xt's are listed here at 820g
    Universal Cycles -- Shimano XT FC-M785 Double Crankset - 10 Speed

    i cant find a weight for the slx's (fc-m675)

    can anyone help?

    Looks like

    Triple (M660) = 899g
    Double with Bash (M665) 918g

    M785 750g

    awesome thanks....so we're talking 100-150g difference.

    I suspect that the SLX weights given above are with BB but the XT weight is without. I don't think the weight difference between SLX and XT cranks is 100 grams or more.

    Got what info i could from the Bikeradar website.

    M785 750g + 90g BB
    M660 899g with BB
    M665 918g not clear but its says 90g for BB

    A pretty big chunk of that weight difference is the middle chainring. The cranks themselves are even closer in weight.

    Yes, the crank weights are very similar. Most of the weight difference is a result of the stock chainrings. SLX is stamped and pressed, versus the more machined XT rings. You could buy the SLX crank, remove the chainrings and sell them, replace with XT chainrings. Or just the middle one.

    sorry for steeling the thread :-)

    but what is your opinion on SLX 675 vs XT 785 cranksets - is the XT worth paying the extra 55 for
    looking to upgrade my m552 crankset on a Trek(GF) Paragon 29'er - that 55 could be the most of a upgrade to ceramic BB
