    Convert Shimano XT 785 38-26 to 38-24

I have seen that the XT crank comes in a 38-24 combo together with the new SLX group i July. The problem is that I need a new group now but prefer 38-24.

Anyone know if I can put a 24 chainring on the XT 785 crank?

    Just buy M780 - 64 x 24t silver inner and replace your M785 - 64 x 26t with that.

    Other note...

    you can also use M770 - 64 x 24t black inner ring instead of M780 - 64 x 24t silver inner ring...

Just make sure that your big cog to big chain ring "chain over lap" is (2) links maximum so that the smallest cog while using the smallest chain ring doesn't ride the rear derailleur jockey wheel. In other words, seeing you are removing (2) teeth you will be creating almost (3/4) inch of chain slap, so make sure your chain length is adjusted to compensate for that change.
