    9 Speed Availability for Shimano

How long do you think we will be able to get 9 speed components from Shimano in the higher end product range (XT and XTR)?

It seems every online shop is blowing out the 9spd stuff right now.

Expendable XTR 8 speed stuff like cassettes were around for about 5-6 years after 8 speed became "old hat" and then after that it was only what you could find for NOS parts, so that's likely what you'll see, but the high end 9 speed stuff will disappear first, so XTR will disappear and the XT and Deore level 9 speed will be available longer. Things like XTR 9 speed shifters will likely only be around 3-4 years.

I guess I better stock pile some cassettes, chains, and middle chain rings if I want to keep my drivetrain for a couple years.
