Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Asked the same question...

I asked the same question a few weeks ago in the Drivetrain thread.

The 2011 stuff will come out next Oct. 2010.

Supposedly, this is accurate info. from a guy who knows Shimano mechs.

New stuff always comes out months before the actual year hits.

When in doubt, assume Interbike/Eurobike in September/October.

Here's a couple threads, one with a potential picture.

Dyna-Drive! Maybe Electric front shifting? Looks like a 2 ring crank in the one photo!

Interestingly enough, looks like there's going to be a complete X0 group now as well...

A bit late, but here's a pic of what seems to be the new XTR:

not with the initial release but for 2012 maybe.

They have working prototypes of Di3 XTR already.

The challenge is aesthetics and convincing people that electronics can work when its splashed with water..

there even more exciting stuff on the horizon

Don't see why this should be a problem. The Dura-Ace Di2 works fine on rain. The XTR would be no different. Other than the extremely high cost, I'd like to try it.

sure you and I don;t see that its a problem, but theres a great many people who are wanting Di2 to fail.

Shimano is very sensitive around the whole 2003 XTR caper and ahow that turned out. They thought they were onto something good with an integrated groupset and got hauled over the coals by every bike journo from Orange County to Switzerland.

They are being very cautious with the Di2 /3 XTR stuff.

In fact everytime Shimano innovates then there seems to be a smear campaign against them which is often hurtful.
