I wish they would put a pic of the actual bike on their website. That cartoon drawing is so ridiculous.

it doesnt offer anything over the ace... it may be lighter or stiffer but the suspension linkage is going to offer the same performance to the wheel

i didn't see there booth at the otter to check it out... i raced friday watched pro's sat and sun. didn't mingle at the booths but i should have.
Even though Astro is great, if i were to say ditch my ace for a derro i wont get anything but a new frame. its got the same suspension just a better paint job!
ill have my ace repainted and a new rear shock for 2012 season. mine's lighter then the serum is

saw it at sea otter. frame is heavier than ace. weighs 6.1 lbs for 17" frame and sells for $700 with fox rp2 shox. rep says it's heavier because it has a beefier rear end. it's $1799 for complete bike as u see it. see the guy/rep there with the water bottle? he gave me that right after the pic. free stuff!

    HA!
Whomever is repping Sette on their Facebook page - Needs to get a clue - When 'they' posted the Derro image up - Someone asked if it was still a single-pivot like the ACE..."Sette" said, "...it is not a single pivot. see above" (referring to a previous statement by them that it was 4-bar suspension)
When I called 'them' out on it, saying, 'No, it IS a single-pivot (faux bar)' and that they should know better and not put out bad info (in a subsequent post) - my posts were deleted and I was unable or not allowed to post on that 'thread' -

    *EDIT*
    Marek's comments were deleted too

$1800 for the pictured bike is a great deal. Where else can you buy a new bike with SLX, XT, and Fox suspension for that kind of price?

The guys I talked to a Sea Otter said there was going to be a less expensive version that was going to cost around $1500 and would still have a Fox fork and shock.

They then loaded me up with socks, tire levers, a water bottle, a couple of tubes, and a multi tool! Can't beat that!

When I hear single pivot I think of the Santa Cruz Superlight, Heckler and the Orange 5. Those are true single pivots. This frame has pivot locations above and just in front of the rear axle making it a four bar just like the Ace except this has a different swing link. Those post by highdell were deleted for good reason and he "should know better and not put out bad info". I'm pretty sure Sette knows what they are talking about considering it's their frame albeit from frame retailers catalog.

Well, yes and no - FOUR-bar (correct me if I'm wrong - and I don't think I am) is typically reserved for describing a 'Horst-type' linkage (pivot on CS), whereas FAUX-bar is reserved for SS pivot linkage designs.
I understand when you get down to it, it's kinda semantical (<~~New Word!) because they both have 4 bars (or is it 3 or 5 ) - but that's just what they're called - for better or for worse.

A FAUX-bar behaves just like a single-pivot - it just actuates the shock at a (usually) different ratio.

I know you get all this, -just expounding
    Honestly... ahh I give up

why don't we just call it a 6-pivot suspension then?

Yep, the new 6-pivot upside-down Horst-link! I like the Derro, graphically it's pretty understated compared to the new Sette bikes, kinda reminds me of a Titus Racer-X. But what I'm excited for is the Drako, that's what Sette needed all along, a nice 5'' trail bike. I can't f'in wait to get rid of my Reken frame!

I didn't say that the bike wasn't a good deal. It is. My point, although not well made, is that they've made their place in the world of FS bikes with lower priced bikes that were also good deals. They've abandoned the old price level for more expensive bikes and I'll bet that they lose customers who will buy a better known brand for not too much more. In my opinion they need to keep offering a well equipped FS bike in the $1000.00 to $1200.00 range.

yeah - IMO they led the way as far as Q goes w/ 'catalog' bikes ...
They still fill a niche now - just mainly w/ the carbon HT's and the Vexx as A cheap (capable) DH
    Oh and some road bikes...

Just not so much bang for the buck like the ACE or Flite was
    Honestly... ahh I give up

thats why it's still a single as well as a faux type. it arc's as a single pivot but has a progressive shock rate from the linkages

found the credible source i was looking for! cannondales rz120 is a single pivot! and they mention it. virtually an identical design to the deror's and they have it labeled as a single pivot.
