I've raced SO 4 years in a row. I've never camped, however (someone else will have to chime in on the camping). The weather is really hit or miss (either sunny with light wind, or cold, overcast and very windy and/or raining). But guaranteed it's going to be cold as a mofo in morning. Expect tons of's a big venue! If you race, get your registration packet early to avoid the long lines and get to starting line early too--way crowed and nearly impossible to find your group if your late! If you don't race, there is still plenty to see and do (products, vendors, raffles, BEER). Bringing your bike is fine...actually I would recommend it; it's such a big venue it's really the only way to get around.
