    1 X 9er (36T) Okay?

Will a 1 X 9er (36T) be sufficient for Sea Otter? Are there any long DH stretches that require the big ring?

There's one section that requires the big ring. I call it the freeway, it's after the log jump and at a slightly up-sloped section before it starts heading down again.

I run a 40 tooth most of the time and at Sea Otter. I would say that it works because the last time I race sport 25-29, I got 4th. There is one climb that forces the Single Speeders to walk, but with 40t I can crank up it.
