Sweet 740!! They are a pretty decent build for the price! Fast too. Got my son a 940 to race this year! Love the paint scheme on that model.

    Beautiful XC machine.
Just out of curiosity, the Scott website lists this model's weight as 11,30kg (24.91 lbs), without pedals.

    Have you ever weighted it?

I have not yet, but I will try to tommorow and let you know! It feels light to me, so I imagine their weight of just under 25 pounds is correct.

Scott Scale 910, Niner fork, Light Bicycle carbon wheels, carbon seat post, Selle Italia seat, Flat Force Stem, Easton SL90 bars, should have just bought the frame and built it up because not much is original, love this bike, just wish I could find another crown race to quickly change forks back to suspension and back.

Hello! I ended up getting Scale 740 for myself, too. Amazing bike, fantastic geometry, huge upgrade from my Trek 4500! I had the wheelset and tyres upgraded right out of the box and I've just recently weighed it: 24.63 pounds with XT pedals. The thing is, I never had a chance to get to know the actual weight of the factory setup. Again, just out of curiosity, if you have the bike with the original setup and have chance to weigh it, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks. I've tried it yesterday on our trails here where I live and it was amazing, though with a bit of fear scratching the bike during the ride :-)

    2014 Scott Scale 960

Just bought a 2014 Scale 960 size XL from my LBS. Got it for $870. My LBS had it on sale for $1200 but I got them to match a price from REI online. They usually provide lifetime "silver" tuneups for bikes bought from the store but with the price match they would not include that. I weighed my options and figure I will be working on my own bikes going forward so the $330 saved is worth it. Who knows, maybe I will come to regret it.

The test ride and one mile ride home was a blast. I like the geometry and the bike feels really light and nimble.

The only thing so far that I don't like are the grips. They have this honeycomb pattern that digs and cuts into my hands. I guess with gloves it should be OK. Can I change the grips without changing the bars? I didn't see any screws.

I will keep this thread posted with ride reports, etc. I have been doing a little fat biking but never had a 29er and getting back into the sport after a while.

I hope this is the right bike for me.
