    scott aspect 30

    is this bike suitable for some xc racing if i put some hayes disc brakes on it and possibly some new wheels with my shimano 540 pedals? if i were to get it what would you guys say is the best upgrades to do for performance and weight? thanks

    why not, looks pretty decent. if you are just starting out, it will certainly not hinder your performance or overall experience.

    don't bother changing to disk wheels, vbrakes work fine and reduce weight. if you are considering doing a bunch of upgrades shortly after you get it, consider just buying a bike that has more of the type of components you actually want, (scale 50... disc brakes, better frame & fork and other parts, slightly better).

    most important upgrade - tires and tubes. go with fast rolling race tires and light tubes or convert to tubeless (
