    I have a 2011 Scale Team 29, size small.

I purchased it new for $900. Have since added 2,500 miles, 2 xc races and 2 endurance races, Shimano m520 pedals, Stans Crest wheelset w/ 160mm rotors f/r, Maxxis Aspen rear, Ergon GP1 grips, Specialzed -16 deg 75mm stem, Crankbrothers 680mm flat bars and a WTB Silverado saddle. Currently weighs in at 25 lbs. For next xc season, planning on adding egg beaters and a Reba (and a lot more miles), which will bring it in the 22.x lb weight.

My take: If you are willing to put in $500 to upgrade it, 9.5. In stock form, 8.5.

+Love the frame, geo. I think it's worth upgrading.
    +Good stock tires
    +Super responsive handling

    -Heavy stock wheelset
-Heavy stock fork (Tora TK), although it still feels good after all those miles without a rebuild

My other rides: Scott Genius 50, Gt Sensor 3.0 (gone)
