Jeez, these cassette are getting ridiculous. The lowest cog could double as a disc rotor.

To say nothing of the price for a part that wears out and need replacement fairly regularly. Sure, not an issue for the pros, but for us mere mortals...

All that said, cool to see the Scale updated. Seems like it's been a while since it has, along with the Spark. But between a relatively refined piece, in a niche market, with diminishing returns per iteration, in a still-flagging global economy, longer product life cycles make sense, until they come up with something big.

Pro race bike...maybe it'll make it to an available production model. I'm always curious about these ultralight frames, regardless of material, as too the service longevity.

If used for its intended purpose, XC racing, the frame should last a good 5 to 10 years. But if you weigh over 220 pounds and like to take big jumps then you might want to get you a 30 pound bike and leave the 17 pound bikes to the 150 pound guys.

Yeah, personally, I don't know many/any 150 pound guys. This bike is probably a custom bike for Nino. He must have wanted something that gives him a bit more compliance in the rear judging from those thin seat stays.

The thin seatstay / thick chainstay trick has been prevalent on road bike design for some time now. Looks like Scott borrowed their own in-house engineering from the Solace road bike in that regard.

If you look at the latest XC race hardtails from other companies, the thin seatstay for compliance seems to be the way to go. Another example is the Canyon Exceed.

I would love to get my hands on this new frame. But I'm a porky 165 pounds right now at 5'10"!

And she finished 2nd after a nasty crash at the beginning of the race. I guess the new frame wasn't holding her and Nino back!
