Looking at Spark...940 owners, what did you pay?

I'm looking into getting a FS 29 rig, and I rode a Spark 940 yesterday.

I've ridden a few Treks, a Spesh, a Felt, and this is my favorite so far. Maybe I'm just dazzled by the TwinLock, which I thought was pretty trick.

The shop had this bike marked as $3350, but he said he bought them at closeout prices and could do $2500 on it.

As I don't see prices on the Scott site, I don't know how good this deal is, and if the 3350 price is legit.

I really liked the bike, I thought the XT/SLX kit on it was nice, as the Fox fork. I like Shimano stuff, so that's a plus with this bike. I rode X5 stuff on the felt and didn't care for it.

Also, anyone have any input on the Spark and if this is a good bike for tight singletrack with lots of rocks and roots?

My other top runner is a '13 Santa Cruz Tallboy Carbon that another shop has. It's currently a demo, but they go through the demos and sell them as new with full mfg warranty. This particular bike has the low end build kit though, it's Deore with Recon Silver fork and I believe Elixer 1 brakes. Not sure about the wheels. They want $2,350 for that.

Anyone ridden both? How do they compare?

    Thanks for the info!

I just bought a new left over 2013 Spark 920 for $2000. Get them to check the computer for leftovers. They had to order mine but for $2200 of msrp it was well worth the 1 week wait to get it!

    Wow, great deal!

Maybe I could have gotten my guy lower, but at the time he was pretty solid at that 2500 for the 940.

I ended up going with a Salsa though, I just got a 2013 Horsethief 2 online. There are some great deals on them, as the new twin pivot suspension came out for 2014. I got mine at 50% of MSRP with free shipping.
