    Fox shock on 2013 Genius

So I read somewhere that the new Fox set up that is on the 2014 Genius is NOT COMPATIBLE with the 2013 model. Does this mean that there is not any ability to swap out to a Fox rear shock?

The news coming from the Scott dealer camp was conflicting.

That the 2014 Fox Shock could be fitted to the Med & Large, but not the small. Others have reported no compatability.

I don't know about the stander Fox CTD shock. I bet it works, and somebody's done it.

I received an email from someone at Scott and they said that the 2013 Genius would not accept an aftermarket shock from Fox, nor would the 2013 accept the 2014 Fox shock work on the 2013. I wonder if I was really corresponding with someone from the company who really knows what they are talking about.

Has anyone even tried to swap out the DT shock with a Fox. BTW, my DT has been working just fine for 8 months!

I just measured the shox from my 2013 genius and it is 7.875" and I think the stroke is 50mm or 2" know what I need is the reducer size and take a chance I saw in another thread that a guy succesfully changed the dt for a fox in a spark so its possible!!!

Re: Fox shock on 2013 Genius

Have y'all contacted fox? They responded to me a while back and told me what would fit on the bike.
I'm waiting to see what magura comes out with since I'm planning on running their 140mm fork that's coming out soon.

Re: Fox shock on 2013 Genius

Looked it up in my email and this is what they said:

With that bike you can fit* any of our air rear shocks.* As far as remote goes you can get either the FLOAT CTD Remote at $470.00, or you can get the FLOAT X for $595.00.* The price for both of these is without the remote.* The size of that shock is 7.5” x 2.0”.

Agreed. Its not plush but not horrible. I do intend to put a magura (depending on what comes) or a fox and putting a magura fork on it as well.

Thats weirds. Because if you check the specs on the Scott website, it says 200x57mm/7.875x2.25 and there are several bikemanufacturers out there who use the same size, like liteville, lapierre etc.

Heard this from a reliable source, and that is that Fox will soon start selling CTD shocks for the Genius bikes. Just give them a call and check it out. The shocks are compatible with all Genius models.

Yea check the review on pinkbike. They said it "fixed" the issues they had with the genius 720 they tested.

Im wanting the climb switch version of the db air but going to get one on there as soon as that's available. Oughta feel great with the magura fork I'm putting on this week

Stock parts left on my 910 will be headset and bb(king doesn't make compatible or they'd be switched!), seat post, and cassette. Everything else will have been swapped... And yet I'm still slow!

    Mod everything!

should get some better pics and an actual ride report over the next few days but thought this shock looked too cool on the bike not to share... did a short ride up and down some chunk on our property and was amazed at how great things felt 1st ride out. braving the cold (high in the 30's) tomorrow to ride because I can't stand it. only thing stock left on the bike is the cassette, frame and seat/post. mod everything!

my 910 was a fox 32 that i was never really happy with. just never felt like it would get dialed in and wasnt the smoothest. at least in comparison to others ive ridden. only one ride on the magura but feels rather buttery thus far. ill get a write up on the new setup once i put it through its paces and break in

Holy mother of hell fire shit damn!!!!!!

Haven't put enough miles on them yet to do a full write up but the fork and shock have transformed this bike. The shock makes me want to sledgehammer the DT swiss... Db air cs is marriage material...

Will write up more once ive spent some time in it. So far haven't changed any settings have only set sag and ridden...and smiled!!!

    Cheers to this shock!

Re: Fox shock on 2013 Genius

Another incomplete review only because I am so impressed by this shock that I have to give it props. Any of you that have ridden central texas know that our trails can be endless rock gardens of limestone. We have a special gem called reveille peak ranch that is pure granite and hero dirt. It is our moab. The thing a this place is a lot of the trails are "relentlessly intermediate" in that they just never stop. A racer friend mentioned that he should have maybe worn a camelback at the race recently because there aren't many places you can take a hand off to grab a water bottle.

Ok well got a quick ride in there yesterday and the shock ate it all up... Such a plush, chatterless ride. My buddy said he could hear how much smoother my bike was riding. Thought that was an interesting comment... Small bump compliance has been achieved and big hits smoothed out as well all without having to set 50% sag because that DT swiss can suck it...

The super d run over there will be there true suspension test and I hope to hit that up in the coming week. Real review then.

Bottom line. Wheel sticks to ground and no chatter. Even in relentless terrain.

Actually I was in my LBS when CC answer the email....but we measure the width and it was correct 22mm but the bolt diameter its 6mm so I ordered a Fox hardware kit 6x22mm for both eyelets.........

Hope everything is here before Xmas and will post some pic when the swap is done.

Just to confirm: I have a 2013 Scott Genius 720 size med and a few minutes ago installed a CCDB Air with climbswitch without any problems. 200mm x 57mm and 8mm x 22.1mm hardware. Feels really nice in the garage, too.

So here are my genius 740 upgrades for 2014 season.....

Front hub shimano XT 32h centerlock 200mm rotor
rear hub shimano zee 32h centerlock 200mm rotor for 142x12 axle
also got the IDS ship and the shimano 142x12 axle for this swap
rear deraillur Zee 10 speed11/36 cassette
rear shox Fox float ctd and its confirm the hardware is 8x22mm
renthal handlebar and cut it to 740mm for all mountain or enduro
    truvaltiv 40mm stem
MRP bashguard and left it 2x10
DNM Mountain Bike Seatpost Remote Lockout 31.6x330mm (didn´t want to pay $400 for a rockshox reverb)

So everything is already order and I already have the hubs the fox ctd...still waiting for the 8x22mm hardware end the IDS ship so because of the holidays I think it will be finish by jan-2014 Just for my BDAY.....

For 2014 maybe I give this a try.... UPDATED with First Impressions: OneUp’s Cassette Changing, XX1 Challenging 42t Adapter Sprocket

Holy cow man its a total different bike, stable as hell the combination of the 142x12 and shimano zee on the rear plus the c.guide makes it really silence on the descend.
the 40mm stem really makes a different also so I went to my local trail and it was 110% fun got some shot but I need to edit them and upload it to vimeo........I will post it latter today

The fox float its just WINNING........can wait for tomorrow.

its in San Salvador 10minutes from my house on Bike......its call ECOPARQUE and it charge $1.50 and you can stay there all day if you want it has DH tracks, good trails and every all mountain DH or XC rider goes there on the weeks....we pedal from 5am to 645am 3 days a week.... its a really great place here in El Salvador for bikes last year we had a big groups of canadiens here.....you can surf in the morning drive 30min and do some XC, DH or Enduro en the afternoon...

Hi. I have the 13 720 with the DT swiss shock. If I swap out I loose the scott lockout system or has anyone fitted the 14 setup? Also I fitted a Renthal duo 40 mm stem and bars. I could not get play out of the head stem
no matter what I did. Seemed to be 3mm in the spacer. Help appreciated. Thanks
