Love the Voltage and Gambler paint schemes. I wish the colors for the AM and XC bikes were a bit more exciting.

So there's no 27.5 Scale carbon HT and no disc cross bike?

I really like the graphic design in this catalog, but what's up with all the typos? Glossing over the gambler introduction I read that there are 2 models, and I clearly see 3. Not trying to nit pick but even in the 2012 catalog, I came across lots of inconsistencies within bike descriptions of the identical frames. Can I get a job proof-reading the literature?

I came on here to find out what the heck a Spark 930 was. Well then, problem solved. It's a 2013. They put fox forks on EVERYTHING. I'm a little scared to see the prices...

The new Scott bikes are up in the reviews section.

    $3779.99 MSRP
Scott Genius 930 29er Full Suspension Reviews

The Genius 650B bikes range from $9134.99 to $3149.99. Doesn't look like there's one for my budget, but I didn't really expect there to be one.

    Neither do I.

Mental lapse from me in linking to the Genius 930. Sorry 'bout that.

The Genius 930 and Spark 930 are spec'd pretty similarly so it is a good reference point. I get the impression it would fall somewhere in between the 2012 Spark 29 Expert and Pro pricing - maybe $3700.

I'm impressed with the 1X11 SRAM on those top end models... not that I'd consider them. But I'm not very impressed with some of the colors/graphics. I don't like the glossy carbon frames. The 2012 Spark 29 Pro was the best looking bike I've seen. It's too bad the matte black/yellow Spark 920 doesn't come in 2x10.

Between the good looks of the 2013 Epic Carbon Comp and (much more importantly) the superior suspension, it will be a hard call - that or the Spark 930. The 930 will probably be at least 20% cheaper than the Epic.

It's not Black and yellow, its Black and Green.

As for Epic being a superior suspension, thats debatable. I personally don't like the specialized bikes, some of our team riders have them and let me use it from time to time to compare bikes. I especially HATE the brain.

    Overall both bikes are amazing.

I took a close look and yea, green. That would probably look really nice in person. But no 2X10 is a deal breaker. As lame and trend oriented as that sounds.

What were your observations with the brain that made you dislike it? I ask because I really don't have much time on either bike. I demo'd an Epic this summer - first full suspension I've ridden in years. I thought "ah, this is nice. I'll save a grand and buy a Scott" but when I rode the Scott (2012 Spark 29 Expert) I got major cold feet on the deal. It felt like it bobbed around like an old Trek Y-frame... at least compared to the Epic.

When I rode the Epic, I thought it was locked out or something until I was mauling rocks at 20+ mph down a hill and not crashing. Thinking back, I'm wondering "oh no is the extra grand justified???"

When i demo'd a 2012 spark 29er i DID accidently leave it locked out 20mph down a rocky slope and it still felt awesome. Tires, tire pressures, susp pressures are all factors of course

    A. The final colors have changed and
    B. The prices will be lower! Also,
    C. Getting rid of all the freaking triple cranks

Vs. Specialized, I can't really complain about the prices as I've seen them (and my local Scott dealer has confirmed) ...but man. The 2012 Spark 29 Pro was such a ridiculously awesome deal compared to the '13 Spark 910/920 of comparable price. Yea you get a fox fork with 15mm now, but holy mother is everything else downgraded. The 9mm QR SID with DNA3 on the '12 wasn't exactly a dealbreaker...

And then there's the colors. And triple craaaaanks. Ugh. Shoulda sprung for a '12 Spark 29 Pro. Shoulda coulda woulda.

I did, I was asked to take it all down. Not sure why because I made sure to get approval before posting. But I didn't want to step on any toes and cooperated.

BTW we just got Sparks, Scales, and CR1's in the shop. So I'll post pics of the Scale 960-930 and Spark 940's

My dealer said the prices he heard were different, didn't say how, but hinted at lower. Perhaps this was partly why you were asked to remove. He confirmed the colors and triple cranks haha.

The way you guys saw the bikes in the catalog are how they are. I'll snap some shots tomorrow when I go in.

Fox suspension is confirmed, even the lower end Scale 940 comes with Fox Float.

Pricing for the Scale 29 Elite with Reba was 1600 this year. The equivalent 950 with Fox 32 was quoted as 1849 low msrp to 1899 high by a LBS off his sheet. That's about an 18% change.

Yea my buddy picked up that Elite for 1500 out the door, w/tax. I was talking with the dealer about the 2012's, he's not sure how things ended up priced that way last year but it was a crazy one for him. This year the prices are much more realistic, though still a deal vs. specialized or canondale. Maybe Swiss francs were just weak against USD last year..

There is no "Pro" model. The Spark 910 and 920 are comparable in price, but not equipment. 15mm front axle fox fork is only upgrade.

The 910 is ~$4900 and has full XT 2x10 drivetrain and tubeless ready wheels, fox factory air fork 15mm. 24.89 lbs.
The 920 is $4200 (same as 2012 Pro) and has basically SLX 3x10 drivetrain, wheels are not tubeless ready, fox evolution air fork 15mm. 26.21 lbs.

I really appreciate the quick response, I may just save some money and go with the 2012 model and upgrade the drivetrain. I know some people prefer the stiffness of 15mm front axle but personally I've never felt the difference b/t the quick release and 15mm.

From the photos it looks like Scott is specing bikes with Shimano Brakes - that his a huge upgrade over the Avid brakes... Even the Shimano SLX outperform the entire Avid line. Very imporant stuff here as my wife's Avids have been to the shop 4 times this summer for a rebleed. Nothing like crabing a handfull of brakes and realizing you've pulled the lever to the bar...

The rest of the specs on these Scotts are awesome - along with the frame weights and designs!

What fork could be expected on the Scale 700's. I didn't think Fox or Rock Shox had a 650b fork (80-100mm) for 2013? Maybe a DT-Swiss fork like Nino Shurter uses?

pumaking thanks for sharing, bikes look gorgeous!!! From what i read it looks like you have been riding and racing the Spark. The Nude 2 shock seems to have been ripped apart in some of the online reviews, can you provide feedback on your thoughts. Interested in what setting you find to work best for racing? and does the Nude shock really feel bottomless when full open? thanks

You were a bit too late. When I made this thread, I posted a PDF of the catalog. Several days later my boss tells me that Scott would like it taken down. Scott's been good to me so I complied with the request. I also posted prices but that had to be taken down as well.

Can't wait to see pictures of the 920. I think it's the best colorway of the line. The parts are great aside from triple cranks and the price isn't bad. The 930 looks a bit better than I thought it would but I still don't dig the gloss finish. That one must be a small, it's like a mountain skateboard.

That is correct, it is a small. It actually looks really good in person, reminded me of the Trek Fuel 9.9

I went with with the 920 because black and green are our team color, so it was a no brainer.

Well supposedly, the 920 was to be shipped at the end of this month, early september. So we got these a month before ETA. So maybe we'll be getting stuff before hand.

Spark 900 RC. Color combo is exactly like last year. Flat black with white and yellow accent stripes.

I missed the complete catalog and all the talk has been about the Spark, Genius, and Gambler. Is the Genius LT changed? How about the Voltage?

LT and voltage are basically the same, save for some component massaging and new colors.

Question on the 2013 Scale 29 RC (not sure what they call it this year), I'm guessing it's the same "upgrades" as the 650b version...142X12, integrated post clamp, Direct-mount FD (I noticed that the frame doesn't include the seat post anymore, what's up with that?...anything else? Also, what the MSRP on the frame?

    Thanks,
    James

My understanding of the 650b is that it's only going to be available in very limited quantities throughout 2013, and should be impossible to get.

The 29er line will stay essentially the same as the 2012 line, with colors, parts, and names being changed. Syncros replaces Ritchey for parts. The top of the line Scale will now be the 900SL, which will run above the RC, and weight for the 29er, 18 + lbs out of the box! It will cost 7800!

Looks like the Genius only comes with the dropper post in the higher carbon models. Any idea if the Aluminum models have the internal cable routing to add the Reverb, like the carbon's do?

Wait for a 2013 Scott??? (New Member)

Hello all, I'm new to the site and really like all the information so far. I'm picking up mountain biking as a new hobby (a serious one). I bought one of those Costco specials (Northrock XC6) and quickly learned that I was ready for more. I have been doing some research and I landed on the 2012 Scott Scale Elite but since the year coming to an end inventory in low as well. If I understand correctly the Scale 950 is the 2013 replacement?? If so what is it rolling out as $$ wise and when should they hit the stores in California?

Welcome new member. I talked to my local Scott dealer a few weeks back, I own a 2011 scale comp, and was commenting on the new bikes in the shop. He told me that Scott prices are rising from the manu. and have been rising. I don't know how a 2012 will differ from a 2013, but the prices of 2012's were going up. I think that is a good indication, interpret on your own.

Thanks for the information. REI is the only Scott dealer I have in my area. They have a 2012 Scale Elite ($1599.00) in Portland, Oregon which a good 700 miles away or pay $120 for shipping. I had wanted to buy the 1st week of September but they have no idea when the new Scales are going to come in. I wouldn't mind waiting as much if I knew when the new ones where going to hit any shop's sales floor.

I just put a deposit down on the 2013 equivalent of the 2012 Scale 29 Team. You can definitely go into your local shop and have them order it from Scott, if they don't already have them out on the floor. Price-wise, my LBS said the 950 would be somewhere around $1900, unless I'm forgetting. Talk to your LBS, and they should fill you in. I thought the info was top-secret myself, but it seems that even though they aren't on all shop floors yet, they can be ordered, so pricing is just a matter of inquiring.

I'm getting bombared with PM's. I think enough time and me posting up pics of the 2013 lineup in person makes no difference in me putting this up. Enjoy, I wont post prices though, talk to your LBS. I can check availability.
