What size single ring are you using on Bronson?

Curious if going too low would cause bobbing issues as I'm thinking of going XX1 with either 28 or 30 tooth chain ring (leaning towards 30)? Also what is everyone doing for single ring chain guide (or even necessary?)?

    Thanks,

    G MAN

PS - Looking for some take offs 650b tires at a good price. Anyone not like the HR2's that came with?

I'm running a 30T front, 11-34T rear. I haven't noticed any bobbing issues with it.

No chain guide, just a narrow-wide tooth front ring and a clutched rear derailleur. Works awesome.

I'm running a 30T with XX1 - no issues at all. Also using an MRP AMG guide. I don't think the chain retention is necessary, but wanted the bash to help protect the lower link.

Not on a Bronson but a TRc. Running a 32T with 11-36 and works great. With a 42 option on the rear not sure anything smaller than a 32T ring would be necessary even with the slightly larger wheel diameter.

No guide on the front using xx1 cranks and ring.

34 Wolf Tooth front and 11-36 rear. No guide just bash and medium clutch RD, no drops in 3 months of solid abuse. If I was going XX1 no less than 32, probably 34.

I've got a Tallboy LT and run a 34 or 36 with 11-36 cogs. For XX1, I'd go 34 all the way. Maybe 32 for a ton of up. MRP AMg is great

Wow, looks like I may have to rethink this! I'm not the best climber but I've been pedalling heavy bikes too so... I guess I'll start with a 32 (I'm guessing you guys on 34's are pretty strong climbers?).
Also has anyone directly compared any of the aftermarket "retention" chain rings with the Sram version? What's the cheapest that works?

    Thanks again!

My buddies are running the Narrow/wide with their Shimano drivetrains with great success and they are cheap compared to SRAM
