    Warning Tallboy LTc eBay scam!

Hope nobody got screwed on this - I almost did. The eBay ad titled" Nearly New Tallboy LTc" had info on 2012 XTR build for killer price but UK seller had "problems" with his Paypal account. Assured me we could still go thru ebay with buyer protection. Agreed on price ($2400 inc ship) and thought this is too good to be true(as usually turns out), but got a genuine looking eBay invoice. He wanted bank transfer(red flag!)

Long story short, I checked with eBay due to unbelievable price on this bike. Pics looked pristine! Found out it was fake and the fake invoice used language found with other scams:

"This seller has $5000.00 on deposit with eBay buyer protection"
"Seller has problems with PayPal acct but is authorized by eBay to proceed with bank transfer"

My lust and greed for LTc at sick price had me almost sucked in.
Hope nobody else got screwed. Reported seller of course.

Be careful out there- if it sounds too god to be true it usually is!

I report those from time to time and eBay is always slow to take down. Instead what I've been doing is bidding and obnoxious amount of money (say $16k or something like that) to help out a would-be victim sense that something aint right with the listing. It takes two ebay accounts to get the bid high.

Another listing with the same MO(don't bid because of paypal prob but do the bank transfer), this one is Tallboy with lefty! Free ship and he will throw in pedals on this 21lb bike for $2500!

How does the obnoxious high bid work - dont you get stuck when the auction ends?

Seen these scams on the rise over the last 45-60 days. The vendor usually has 20-30 bikes listed for insane prices. I was watching a blur XC for 2500.00 as well, and e-mailed the seller with some questions and they replied with a vague response and did not provide any comments on the bike. I reported it, and the bike was removed then reappeared a couple of days later from another vendor.

I just keep reporting them every time I see one, which is usually every couple of weeks.

Listing is back up after I reported 3 different sellers - they use the same pic and description! Any way I maxed the bid, tried 100,000 but eBay won't let me do it.

Just trying to save someone from getting screwed, these guys use a phony eBay invoice that looks legit. $2500 for a Tallboy LTc, yes it is too good to be true.

Funny thing is.......it is now listed twice by 2 different sellers with 2 different contact emails. Morons.
I crashed hard enough on my Tallboy to break my leg,
The carbon is way more durable than most people.

This is very similar to what appeared to be a too good to be true craigslist posting.
    2012 SANTA CRUZ TALLBOY C
Sent them an email and the response was some long story about deploying and the sale needed to take place on ebay and he would pay shipping because he didn't want anyone showing up at his house and knowing that he would be gone soon and his wife and kid would be alone. The guy had a very american name but his typing seemed to show that english was not his first language. I told him that it had to be an in person transaction and that I needed to see the bike in person before I would hand over any money. He's yet to respond.

Yes and this time the BIN is $2000. Not bad for a high end carbon mtb! Plus free ship!
