    TB-fork steer tube length?

hey guys, I just ordered a large al TB. I want to have all the parts here when it arrives. So I'm trying to pick up a good used fork but want to make sure i have enough steer tube. The Santa Cruz site says that it has a head tube length of 3.9 inches, but it looks longer. Is it really 3.9" or am I misreading something. I'm using an inset lower cup and won't be using any spacers with a Thomson stem. What is the shortest steer tube that I should be safely looking at? I was thinking 6.5" of steerer, but could that number be safely closer to 6"? I won't hold anyone to it, I promise. Anyone with a Tallboy, please chime in.
