Tallboy Carbon Frame protection advice (BB mount)

I have a Tallboy carbon with 1x front (28T), which cannot take a bash ring. It does not have ISCG tabs like the latest.

I need protection to the BB area, something like a BB mounted skid plate that protects the chain ring. As compact as possible, and ideally with an upper guide in one part.

What protectors fit the bike? The rear linkage does not leave a lot of space for smaller size skids.

I don't mind cutting a protector to make it fit.

Please only recommend protectors that have actually been installed on this bike successfully, not on other SC models (Nomad, BLT etc have more space around the BB).

I haven't tried it, but the MRP AMG sounds like it should work for you.

    It works on a TBc:

It does not, I did try it. The backplate fits but not the plastic skid. If anyone wants to buy it PM me.

Bummer. I don't have a TBc anymore, but I am curious. Does the skid contact the frame or lower link?

The back bolt of the skid plate is right where the suspension axle is, almost the same spot.

The difference between this frame and other SC frames is that the suspension axle is almost under the BB, in other frames its much further back.

Looks like the MRP mini guides come in a few angles and if you cut the back part it should be OK, other than the upper guide may not fit 28 ring.

Did anyone try MRP Micro on this frame? Looks borderline from the photos.

I produced a skid plate that protects the lower down tube, bb, and linkage: Rock protection for Santa Cruz and Niner frames - Buy and Sell and Review Mountain Bikes and Accessories
I have a model specific for the Tallboy and Tallboy 2.

Very nice, if I cannot find something that protects the chain ring I will go for it.

Get cytoes thing. I lived in Moab for a while and used it and now on the front range. I've smacked that thing pretty good on many occasions. Very glad I have it. At the end of the day, a new chain ring is nothing compared to a new frame.

FWIW, I run cytoe's plastic guard with a bash.

+1 Recommending the Cytoe skid plate. Does it exactly what it's supposed to do with negligible weight. It's a no brainer and the first thing I recommend to any of my friends with a new Santa Cruz
