    Superlight Chain Drop

I have a Superlight 3.1 with a 3x9 setup. I have all Shimano drivetrain except for a Sram chain. My problem is I constantly drop the chain in the front rings. Anyone else have issues with this or a possible cause? I know I could swith to a 10 spd setup and get a clutched derailleur, but I'd prefer to avoid throwing down that kind of cash.

Are the limit screws correctly adjusted on the front derailleur?
Is your chain the correct length?
If it's dropping off the small ring towards the frame and bottom bracket when shifting, you could likely benefit from checking the adjustment of the limit screws.
If it's dropping off any of the front rings while just riding, your chain could be too long.
Combo of too long chain + limit screws out of adjustment will allow for chain drop.

If it continues to be an issue then you are correct-clutch type rear derailleur is a fix.

I agree. Front derailleur adjustment sounds like the problem. Limit screws and alignment. Chain length as was said could also be an issue. Shift it to the large front ring and largest rear cog and the derailleur should be pretty stretched out, but still have a tiny bit of slack in the chain (just enough not to bind up), if it's more slack than that, chain is too long.
I have a superlight 3x10 without a clutch rear derailleur and chain drop is VERY rare.

Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure it's not derailleur adjustment. I'll double check the chain length.

After checking this morning I think my chain was too long. Test ride in the morning will hopefully verify.
