I'd forgo the NSB one at 4x the cost of an OEM model

    +1

The old hangers I could see going with the NSB hanger, because the SC ones were flimsy. The new ones are stout though. I don't see them bending unless they take some serious force.

If you're running a Shitmano Shadow Plus, get the DM rear mech hanger, and pull that dog-bone off your rear mech.

    Have you done that?
According to Shimano it's not supposed to work (they say you need to buy the RD designed to be DM), but I've heard that it works fine.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Shadow Plus are all DM compat...
I did that to a XT w/ the clutch lever, and I recently got my mitts on a XTR w/ one of those gold clutch levers. I looked at doing it to a normal mech hanger, but the gap on the mech after pull off the dog-bone was too narrow for std mech hanger, AND the bolt-hole wasn't far enough rearward...was really hoping SC would make a DM for the old Blur LTc 135mm spacing, but nada. :/
