shorter shock on a Driver 8?

Has anyone tried running a shorter shock on a Driver 8? I'm thinking of building one with my Totem and I'd like to balance the travel a little more.

The stock frame gets 8" of travel with a 8.75 x 2.75 shock. So a 8.5 x 2.5 shock would reduce that to about 7.3". It would also slacken the HA by half a degree and drop the BB by .2-.3". Not a bad thing.

I wonder if this would cause any significant weirdness with the VPP2. Its supposed to be more linear with less chain growth than original VPP but without seeing axle-path graphs its kind of a crapshoot.

Also, I'm 6'0" and I will be pedalling it up, sounds like a Large is my size? 40mm stem. I may have to order without test riding.

I'll prolly ask SC some of these questions, just thought someone on here might have actual experience.

Thanks!
