    santa cruz chameleon 5 2013 version 650B

Anyone done this yet? I just got my 2013 tennis ball yellow with both the SS dropout and gear for a 650b conversion. I have a taper 2012 26 fox 140 rlc.

I hope this bike rails! Short chain stays 16.5 and slacker this could be a furious trail slayer, a budget hardtail Bronson? I'm just waiting on a headset and wheels should be done next week.

I'm wondering about this too. I have a tennis yellow frame on order. I have gone with 26" wheels on my build so far, but wanna try 650b.

Here's a little update I also posted on the 650b board.
Waited 5 months for this frame in yellow just because of this video. Santa Cruz knows how to market a bike. Put DH riders on it.

Steve Peat & Josh Bryceland Thrash The New Santa Cruz Chameleon on Vimeo

Since the Bronson is such a hit I decided to give 650b a try since I have a 29er and a 26 inch bike. Clearance looks awesome with racing ralph 2.25 with the gear dropouts I also have the single speed dropouts which even has more room. I'm excited a 650b with short chain stays 16.5!! It's a size med and weighs 3.5lbs.

I have a fox float 140 which I might need to scale down. I'm just waiting on a headset. It's going to be a trail bike. Maybe it will replace my stumpy evo.

I know the stock BB height is 12.4 on a 26 inch wheel what is a avg BB height for a 650b?

Yeah thanks for the pics. I'll build a 650b wheel set when funds permit. I also got the tennis yellow and its just an awesome color!

Is there actually a difference between the 2013/2014 frames and the 2015 frames that come from SC with 650b wheels? The geometry charts look awfully close -- so much so that the differences could be due to different forks. The chainstay lengths are identical. I suspect the frames are the same but without having them next to each other to compare I can't confirm.

I have the 2013/14 frame built up as a 650b SS. Based on my BB measurements and rear tire clearance I'd say they are different. The new "true" 650b Chameleon frame has slightly more BB drop, and better rear tire clearance down at the chainstays. It also appears the new 2015 frames have a slight bend in the lower seat tube, probably to maintain the short chainstays (and adequate tire clearance).

Right after I submitted my post I looked at a couple more pictures of the 2015 Chameleon and thought I noticed the seat tube bend. Thanks for setting me straight!

    Here should clear some doubts.

Been wondering the same question before I pull the trigger for a set of 27.5 wheels for my 2013 Tennis Ball Yellow. Frame is size small. Wheels are the Enve M70 27.5 with some 2.35 Maxxis, so if they fits, everything should.

Done the job with no clearance issues, should ride OK even when it is muddy. Only concern is that there seems to be not enough room for any FD to work properly, at least not with a good chainline. So, if you plan to go 650b on the 2013 Chameleon, be prepare to drop the FD at the same time.
