Going up the canyon to join the shoreline had some rough spots, but only one patch in bobsled was slick with snow/ice the rest was actually in really good condition. Although rain is on the way...

and mine with another continent under its wheels ..New Zealand
recently added Nano flat pedals, XT 2 x 10 and brakes with a 180 rotor up front..

Thinking of going Rocco 57mm rear shock as just blown the RP23 and maybe changing Mavic XM719 to Arch EX and running tubeless..

    Any thoughts / suggestions?

    Here is my Nickel:
XL size in seabright blue, 1x10 XT equipment, KS LEV, Syntace cockpit, Float 34 CTD fork, Float CTD shock.
The most beautiful solution of single pivot with variable shock rate frame design, if you ask me.

It's just one of the gadgets, like spd. Not neccessary for mtn biking, your bike gets heavier, new cable to route, you'll have service it sooner or later, but it's really fun

I had to service cartridge once (air was in the system) but it was easy to do it at home (although some tools are required).

Great topic. I've just picked up a used Butcher frame.

Looking at the reviews on google- Pinkbike rated it (why I picked one up)

yet these guys said it suffers from single-pivot brake-jack and rides awkward? Santa Cruz Butcher: The Three Month Update | Spoke Magazine

    Thoughts??

    Thanks man!

The new bumpstick was sweet! Man is it stiffer than my old Fox 32. And I am definitely a 150mm Nickel belieber. Rode well. I actually raised my stem a little. Didn't notice any difficulty climbing but it is noticeably easier to get the front wheel off the ground when descending.

Now I have to play with all of the settings on the Pike but thus far it was a phenomenal decision. Love this bike.

Yep. Roco LO. It leaves a little to be desired IMO. I blow through the travel pretty easy. Doesn't feel like much ramp up in the spring curve. Maybe that new DBinline in a few months.....

That makes sense, because if you look at the shock rate, it starts to taper off at about 130mm of travel. Can you add a spacer or band to the air can. But yes, I think the new CC Inline will be the holly Grail for the Nickel.
