    Nickel Headset

Just bought a SC Nickel, looking for a red headset to be used with my tapered fork. Any recommendations that won't break the bank. I tried using one off ebay but the lower cup is way to big. This is what I ordered.

    AEST Threadless Semi Integrated Tapered Headsets CNC 1 1 8" 1 1 2" 1 5" | eBay

Top cup will fit fine but the lower is to big. Any recommendations please. I really don't know what I need to get.

    Headset size

I also just got a frame and understand the size should be.

    Lower cup 1.5 with a 49mm i.d.

    Inset upper with a 44mm i.d.

    hope this helps a bit

This is from the SC website:

What kind of headset will I need for my Nickel?
This bike uses a tapered headset- which have many different configurations these days. Ours uses a standard (external) 1.5" lower cup, and a semi-integrated 1 1/8" upper. The semi-integrated upper headset is a pretty standard size these days- we use the 44mm ID standard. As all of us frame manufacturers seem to be using slightly different configurations with tapered headtubes, these headsets are custom items. We will offer options from Chris King and Cane Creek in our kits, and also as an option with your frame purchase

Competitive cyclist has a cane creek 110 tapered headset 44mm that will fit the nickel in red. Runs 150 but is bada** to say the least. One of, if not the best headset on the market IMO, and you don't need special tools to work on it unlike a lot of the chris king stuff.

There is a black cane creek 110 in the classifieds that is the right size. And the $75 is cheaper than $150, its just not red.

If you are more on the happy side of live an like to go down the hill more than the opposite than invest the money in an Cane Creek angle set and do your Headangle 1 to 1,5 degree slacker. I did it and the Nickel can compete now easily with longer travel enduro bikes.
    Just my 2 cents
