    New Heckler Swingarm Maintenance

    Hello to all,

my back swingarm is cracking, so i decided to unmount it and to check the mechanism.
    I used this sheet : http://www.santacruzbikes.com/tech/s...k_bearings.php

My problem is that i'm stick at step 3 c and 3 d.
i didn't success in removing the axle. I tried with a maillet but it did'nt work and i'm afraid to hit too strong. I hit the 5mm alen wrench side to push out the axle from the other side but it didn't work.

Please can you tell me what am i doing wrong ?

    Thx

If you're swingarm is cracking, are you swapping out swingarms? I'll take it you mean creaking and you're doing a service? Do you have the latest Heckler? After you loosened the cap did it protrude a bit so that when you whacked it with a mallet that it moved the axle or are you saying that it's not moving and you think you're giving it a sufficient whack?

Well i'm going to explain it again with my poor english.
I have a sound coming form my swingarm while i'm pedaling on flat or uphill.
I located the noise it's coming for the swingarm and it's doing a kind of "crack, crak crak"
when I excerce a side force on the swingarm. So i decided to unmount it and i download the technical sheet from SC website. My Heckler is the new heckler model.
I'm blocked at the step where you have to move the pivot axle out. i taked out the pivot cap, but i'm unable to take out the axle, i even don't know from which side i have to take it out.

So when you unscrewed the pivot cap a few turns (and left it in partially unscrewed), and then tapped on the cap like the instructions said, the axle didn't move? Or you took the cap off and didn't try and tap the axle out with the cap? It's a good way to start, although you can tap the axle out with just a punch or similar.

Well, i changed my tools and took something heavier in place of the mallet.
I found also something with the exact diameter of the axle so i can take out the axle without damaging the cap side. I hitted strongly and the axle come out.

The result are clear all my bearing are ****ed up

I just noticed in your first pics that it looks like you have cracks in your frame before you wacked it hard. Keep your pics incase you need to show SC for warranty issues.
Gotta wonder if thats were your cracking/creaking was coming from!

No man no "crack" around, i was just talking about "cracking noise".
I think that the noise come from the balls into the bearing that are so rusted that it's giving that noise.

    Here is more pict

You just saw the dirt under the protection sticker that i put under the bottom tube

Yes they do, though my fuel cost to the bike shop for them to see would have been a lot more than the sks bearings.

To quote from the distributors own website (www.raceco-mtc.com)...

"Axe mono-pivot montÚs sur un axe de 15 mm avec garantie Ó vie des roulements"

Which in english says "Single-axis mounted on a pivot axis of 15 mm with lifetime warranty bearings " according to Google (my French sucks).

I'd be straight back on the phone!

Man, that seriously sucks! I'm flabbergasted SC have such a complicated setup for France.
