New fork for my 2008 Superlight
Hey I'm back...looking for some suggestions from you SL lovers out there!
Shopping for a new fork for my 2008 SL (1 1/8 headtube). My Dxc build came with the RS Tora 318 Solo Air (100mm I think), and I wanna upgrade or at least get something lighter (I fear I'm becoming a weight weenie).
I wish I could afford one of those high-end Fox shocks, but I can't. My budget is maxed at $400ish.
I'm looking at the X-Fusion Velvet as one possibility. Any feedback on those? Also, there are some used Fox F-Series on CL /ebay.
If I move up to 120mm, will (and how) it affect my handling? I'm definitely not an aggressive rider, more of a 175lb, 56yr old weekend warrior trail rider. No jumps, few drops. I do enjoy technical stuff and climbing.
The frame is designed to accept up to 120mm fork.
Look for a 120mm fork....if you don't like it, you can always reduce the travel down to 100mm. Same can be said about 140mm forks.
You should be able to find a used Reba, Revelation, or F120 in your budget.
I crashed hard enough on my Tallboy to break my leg,
The carbon is way more durable than most people.
i have a 06 superlight . unless you ride alot of technical a 100mm air fork would be good, look for a good used Fox F100 i just bought a new Tallboy carbon frame , now i get to build my 1st 29er
